How to reduce image size for email

Last updated: October 16, 2026

Most email services stop you at around 20 to 25 MB per message, and a handful of phone photos can pass that. Shrinking them first lets you send them all in one email, and they arrive faster for the person opening it.

Free. No account. Up to 20 photos at a time.

Steps

  1. Open squeezelocal.com.
  2. Under Target size, choose Under 1 MB.
  3. Under Max width, choose 1920 px.
  4. Drop in your photos.
  5. Click Download all as ZIP and attach the ZIP, or download the photos one by one and attach those.

Which settings to pick

What the photos are for Target size Max width
Viewing on a screen Under 1 MB 1920 px
Quick look on a phone Under 500 KB 1280 px
Printing Under 2 MB or Automatic Original size

With the first row, 15 or more phone photos usually fit in one email.

Sending something private? Medical documents, contracts, photos of your kids: many online compressors upload your files to their servers first. SqueezeLocal doesn't. Everything happens in your browser, so the only copy that leaves your device is the one you email.

Questions

Will the photos look worse?

On a screen, very little. A 1920 px wide photo still fills a laptop display. If the person needs to print them, use the printing row above instead.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. Open squeezelocal.com in your phone's browser, tap the box and pick photos from your library.

What about HEIC photos from an iPhone?

SqueezeLocal works with JPG, PNG and WebP. When you pick photos through the iPhone's photo picker in Safari, iOS usually converts them to JPG automatically.
